I recently got some of the floor in and the cab on the frame. I also got my rear suspension in (still need to do the panhard bar) and my tires mounted on my front wheels.

Build is looking really good. The frame and suspension are looking sweet.
(Here is a little tech tip. Move your ground to the frame or the axle housing, if you ground there is runs through the bearings, and makes a little arc on them.)

The chassis and cab are looking nice Burnout. I like the wires too.

That's a good tip Bonehead gave. I've seen "arced" bearings before. It ruins them.

Disc Brakes with the wire wheels?

Nice project you've got going there. I'm curious .....it looks like you're using disc brakes with the wire wheels (those wheels look great by the way). Are you using a wheel adapter to get the wire wheels to bolt up or what type of disc are you using? Thanks.

Bonehead, thanks for the welding tip. The brakes are actually part of a frame kit I got from Speedway motors. I believe they are chevy rotors and calipers with a ford bolt pattern. I think they have a couple of different setups you can get that bolt up to the old axles. I just got the wheels straightened by Stockton wheel (who did a really great job and quick turn around) and are just spray painted. The wheels just clear the caliper by about 1/4 inch or so.

Really nice!

35 Master, yeah it is a t-bucket kit. I cut the back of the frame off and extended it 3 feet so I can use truck bed without shortening it. It has about a 120 inch wheel base now. This is my first ground up build and I thought it would be an easier way to get everything together. My next one I will build the frame though.

thanks for the positive responses guys.

a couple more pics

Got the bed cut out and temporarily placed. I am not sure if I want to chop it now after seeing it with the bed on. I already have it channeled so room is already getting tight. What do you guys think of chopping it? and is that a good height for the bed?

Bed height looks perfect. As for chopping the top, I think it looks good either way. I'm partial to unchopped because I like seeing where I'm going. LOL

The bed looks okay to me Burnout. Although if I were building the truck, I'd probably raise it about 3/4" but that's just personal preference. As for the top, I think it would look good chopped, even if it's just a subtle chop. The truck is shaping up very nicely.

Bed looks OK. I like them either way. Tho, I'd only chop it about 3". Just my own preference.

Thanks for the responses guys, I should be getting my back rims and tires this week or next week and I am going to put the bed back on at that time and re-evaluate it. I am probably going to raise it about an inch or so and see if that visualy shrinks the cab some. I did have a 3 inch chop on my list but will wait and see after the wheels are mounted.
thanks again guys.
Scott

I just saw the update. You are doing a nice job.If it was mine I would bring that bed up to that first belt line.It would just keep the lines of the truck flowing a little better. But thats just me.
.02...

Got the bed mounts fabbed up and the bed height re-adjusted. Also, got my back wheels in going to mount the tires soon. The wheel picture is what it looks like outside my garage. The weather was awesome this weekend.

this is looking awesome. I have a ton of metal work to do inside my cab and this is giving me some good ideas to look at.

Thanks for the photos. Good luck with the rest of the build.
