I'm looking at buying 2 new tires for my project. I had several used tires I thought were good but on closer inspection won't do for front tires. I want to use 2 aluminum slots I have that currently have G60 ployglass tires on them. That tells how old they are. I was thinking 225/60 R14. The wheels are 8inches wide. When you go above 195's the price jumps a good bit. No more than this truck will be driven at highway speeds I want go as cheap as possible. Any suggestions?

This will tell you the measurements of the tires, could go with some off name brands to save money.

14"s are hard to find in stock, most of the time you have to order them. My go to is www.discounttiredirect.com . They have a good selection of most everything.

One place you don't want to skimp is on tires, Phil. I know buying them is a financial hit sometimes, but your life is riding on those tires. The good part is, on a hot rod, tires tend to last for a long time, so you will spread that cost out over years of use.

One thing that jumped out at me is that you want to run 8 inch wheels, and I think you said on the front. That is a little wide IMO, ,more suited to rear wheels. You can pick up slots cheap at swap meets and wheel places all the time, and I would consider maybe something in the 6 inch width for the front.

I've always dealt with Coker Tire, they have a terrific selection of older style tires.
