Welding table project
I'm going to build myself a 3'X6' welding/jig table. It'll also have extensions. I went to the steel store today and picked up a bunch of steel and some extras today. Fun place! But it's so expensive and you can hardly find used stuff any more.

I think it was originally a transmission teardown table. It has a sloping top and center drain. 55 gallon drum fits underneath.
OK for $40. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...psagci1aul.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...psfip6hgrc.jpg |
Nothin' like havin' a good welding table! There's a good used steel place in Houston with all kinds of crazy scrap pieces but sadly not out here where I am now. I was surprised how little the steel I bought locally for my frame was though... 24' (2"x3" 3/16") @ 2.02/ft = $48.48! [cl[;)[;)[cl

Wow. The last time I bought used steel it was .50 cents a pound.

I bought the table from a closed auto shop so I'm assuming the table was for disassembling transmissions. The top drains to the center where there is a whole.

That'll make a good welding table when you're done.

Fine buy!

Got the cut pieces, drops and long stock pieces. I really should have bought 2 sticks of 2X3 just in case.
