Well about 4-5 days ago lost my internet connection:eek::eek:
tried all the normal tricks, reboot, restart....blahblahblah...
computer showed I was connected but wouldn't bring up browser
called my internet guru buddy and he tried to help a couple days
called provider, no help, they were unable to help me reconnect
said they would send out a tech the next day, he said the connection on
their end was good....hmmm ... got a new router and bam! back in
business:D:D.. long story longer...... I thought to myself could I
do without internet ....I set here watching tv and caught myself
reaching for the computer a number of times.... what time does
the game start, how do I this or that, check in with you guy's etc....
I realized that I have become very dependent on this and I'm
pretty sure I could not go back to the way it was.....
what are your guy's thoughts? and yes I missed ya'll......;)

PC at home, use my phone or a small tablet in the truck, looking into getting a laptop or netbook for the truck, something with a larger screen. I usually check in here 3-4 times a day, along with a couple of other sites. Seldom watch TV anymore, have Dish, 500 channels of nothing that interests me, only keep it for the wife and Grandson. Nope, can't live with the web!

Hard to argue about the value of a computer or internet anymore.
Sure there is lots of crap on it, but there is also many things of value. Like this site and all of you.:D
I used it all the time back when I was teaching jazz as a way to show the kids what the masters looked like as well as sounded via U-Tube etc.
When I was building my custom truck I was in contact with custom cars fans all over the world.
My wife sells 90% of her art via the internet as well, so for us it means income.
I haven't had TV in over 25 years but as isolated as I am I have come to rely on my old computer and the internet.

My wife and myself are here in Ghana, Africa on an LDS Mission until 2019. When we left Utah, I left all things behind and only kept this site as a favorite. We have internet connection at best 3 to 4 times a week so when we do, I try to log on just to see what is happening with Rat Rod culture and this group. I have come to appreciate each of you and your thoughts as well as wisdom. The internet is my lifeline to reality at times and also a mind relaxer. Hope to meet many of you on the road one day, but for now am thankful for being healthy and able to serve these wonderful people in the bush.
Keep the faith brethren!

I think all of us on this thread remember what it was like trying to do anything before the web. Fumbling through how to take something apart by yourself or finding parts for anything. Learning how to do something new the right way. It was all more expensive and frustrating.

I bring my phone out a lot in a day. Check the daily or hourly weather and radar to plan out my day better. Keep in contact with dispatch. Text my family. Don't worry as much about breakdowns - especially in the winter - emergency help is at my fingertips. Look up needed information quick in the middle of any conversation. Maps. Find anything. The list goes on...

How did I manage before a smart phone?

....and most importantly car porn and funny cat videos! [ddd

Would miss my desk top in the garage and my lap top in the house and when traveling. I still only have a flip phone and it is getting to the point where I think I need a smart phone too.
