ugly part II

amazing how bored l was at midnight, so l decided to go do these..........the worlds 2nd ugliest brackets:eek:

an hour, a big hammer, a vice and a 5 flat pieces of 1/8 stock out of the scrap pile and, viola, some ugly body to frame mounts, a little flat black when there mounted underneath and no one will ever know. l will drill holes from the bottom side thru the floor bars we welded in for strength and use 3/8 bolts to fasten them down.

they'll do the job, just not pretty, but the body won't move once these are wrapped and bolted in around the chassis. one side is higher because we used 1/2 inch square tubing for the floor bracing and the inside of the brackets will go thru it & the outside of the brackets bolts flat against the floor bottom where there is no braces.

I think thats your limit for brackets, you have a whole stringer full. Do you catch and release the ones that are too small?

actually, l am allowed 2 more & yes, by law l have throw back any under 8 inches:rolleyes:

pic of one that was too small and l threw back[ddd

wiring

we got a bunch of the engine harness ran and made a bracket for the tranny overdrive T.V cable and throttle cable & ran the throttle cable inside the cab.

re-did the plug wire looms, these ones look a lot better.

mounted

my stringer of body mounts is now under the car:p two 3/8 bolts per mount = 10 bolts holding on the body, l think that should be enough.

l hate upside down drilling thru the floor, gotta love metal shavings in you're hair.

throttle cable hooked to the pedal, full motion to W 0 T :D

next on the list: fire it up and make some noise[cl

wiring

0H joysville, wiring:rolleyes:

got some wiring done and mocked in the dash.

l figured the fuse box just inside the passenger side tucked up by the heater box is easy to get to & still out of the way.

not sure what year of 1940's Mopar l pulled this heater out of.

l ended up using the black heater, nice thing is it bolts in the same place and it has defroster vents in the right place and the other didn't have them where they would work, 0H WEll, l'll stick it in something someday, not like l won't have another project.

no VR00M

no VR00M:( but fire out the headers so it's got lots of spark. bonus it turns over with the key, so no jumping across the solenoid to get to try and start. we gotta play with the timing but almost 11PM so time to call it a night.

something l did not know, ford 9 INCH truck rear-ends takes a axle shaft almost a 1/8 of an inch bigger around than most car ones, l thought a nine was a nine.

we put in the 3.5O,s l pulled out of a 1967 truck, figuring 3rd member and the axles were the same, 0H well, live and learn, 2 hours putting it in & taking it back out.

the yoke on the 3.OO,s that was in the chassis was egg shaped. we just ended up fixing it by removing the egg shaped yoke and changing it out with a new one and resetting the tolerances.

trans line/cooler in, lines not as purty as D R's, but functional.

stuck a tire on to see how they fit, don't look too bad either.

Yep the ford truck nine inch is a 31 spline 5 on 5 lug pattern and the car nine is a 28 spline 4 1/2 on 4/12 lug pattern.
Hate it when that happens :(
