The body found me i used to work for a telephone company went to work on this guys house to repair his phone got to talking to him he said he builds hot rods. He starts showing me a few hot rods all where pre 1940 then he showed 4 more projects he is working on.i told him i always wanted a coupe we became friends and a year later i asked him about the 26 he said he would sell it to me but he actaully gave it to me as cheap as i got it. The guy lives 4 miles from me and is one of the nicest guys i ever met.

I am the gathering parts stage of the build right now. Just got these tires and rims today they came with matching front rims and tires. I am going to start chopping the top as soon as this weather breaks a little. It is still cold as hell and snowing.

I hope to get the rolling chassis home this weekend. The guy i got the body from called me yesterday and told me i can have the complete rolling chassis minus the engine trans and rear end. I am going to use the buggy spring in the front and maybe the rear buggy spring too. The frame i am going to box in and build a k frame to go inside the original to stiffen it up. I know it would be less work and cheaper to build a new frame and go with coil overs in the rear. But i want to keep this thing as close to a authentic 50s early 60s style hot rod as possible. If i cant stiffen the frame up enough to make it safe i will build a new one. But the old frame is solid and it is 3/16ths thick steel so i think i can use it. I am building a tubular drop axle. I dont think i want to try to use the original t front axle i dont think it will be strong enough. Also there are no brakes on the front t axles. Thank you guys for all the comments and encouraging words. I have always dreamed of owning a chopped 5 window coupe. This coupe is being built in memory of a close friend i had been hot rodding with for 20 years who passed away a couple weeks ago.

Don't use the T frame. Find a Model A frame or build one. The T just isn't tough enough, unless you are going to use a little four banger for power.

Going to do the chop on the top this weekend weather permitting i am going with a 9 1/2 inch chop. I decided i am not going to channel it as i am 6' 1" tall. I will post pics if i am able to do the chop this weekend.

Well doesnt look like the weather is gonna let me chop the coupe this weekend. But i did get a new intake.

Thanks 42 chevy i hope to have this done by end of may or early june so i can get it in the car show my friend started before he died. A bunch of us are going to keep it going. Wanted to chop the top this weekend but the hi today was 28 looks like more of the same tomorrow and i dont have a garage.

Well got it marked out need to weld bracing in before i cut it up. Still thinking do i make a mail slot back window or cut the back window out and chop it less. I guess i got all week to figure it out.
