Just curious....

Are you using a flux core welder on that? Not that it's bad thing.....just wondering....maybe you've already said it...I haven't gone thru the entire thread...sorry..

Lookin Good!

Could be stick welding.Thats what I use on that size and heavier steel.[;)
I have to get my brother to do all the mig welding,my hands shake too much for it,so I just use the good old stick welder whenever possible.

Yes I use mostly stick welding, Same welder for 45 yrs an old Forney my welds never look neat but never had a broken weld. I welded Dirt race cars that went 114mph at 8000 rpm for 30 laps, blew engines and rolled over but never broke a weld.. heheeh knock on rusty steel, hehehe

Photos..Using plywood form to do the complete rear curved hoops pulled real easy with a come-a-long. The tubing is 1 inch square tubing. photo 4163 the last one shows a other piece of metal on the plywood. that was my wifes deck table 18 gauge 47.5 inch in diameter. It was headed for the dump when i realized maybe its the right curve for my fenders. So I cut it in half and trimmed it here and there. And yes its correct for what I want I can weld tabs off the curve and get my rear fender curve. The edge is just asking for me to weld fender supports all along it.

Photos.. Doors and widow frames. i could have used steel tubing but didn't have any so I used oak wood what I had on hand and no cost to me. Plus the window grooves were easy to install in wood vs steel. I wanted a plexi glass type window in case of bad weather. Cost is always foremost for me. As I stated earlier I have more time than I do cash, heeheh

Photos.. The yellow Ford was my last Hot Rod a 1948 Ford Coupe started with just a bare body no dash no interiors. I reworked the frame to accept Bobcat suspension and 390 Ford engine, I shortened the frame and body by 31 inches i cut right through the roof top through the door centers and through the frame. Then I gas welded back the body parts and arced the frame. I sold it 1.5 years ago. the other thing is a Mongoose home built stood waist high had a 1969 mustang front suspension and a 9 inch rear. I had a 475 HP 460 with a 4 speed for it. The story is like this I was away and a freak thunderstorm came trough and tore off my garage shingles, lots of water came through the roof and on to the car. All that nice shiny sheet metal looked like it had been rusted for 50 years. needles to say I blew my stack and the car went to the junk yard the very next day I am doing this next one alot more conservative than the other cars Ive done.

Photos.. The blue metal is a water tank that was in my home until it blew a hole in it this year. I used it for cab corner attachment points. Plus I plan on using the halves of the tank for my Cab corners when i'm ready. Its free and 18 gauge steel. The other metal is from free appliances from the dump lots of steel in these babys.

This car will be full fender-ed and have running boards and all. My original plan was to have a removable top cab section, but my sweetie the wife said she would like a roof over her head and a Roll bar like in the race cars. So thats what we will do, I will stop at the fire wall because I will have to pull the engine and transmission again to make a few changes. I don't want to make it hard to get the engine out as I work all alone.
