Went to install the lowering blocks.
U bolts are short by about 2 inches.😳
This spring pack looks big for a 2 wd truck.
6 leafs plus the booster springs.
Well. So much for that. I have to get some u bolts made.
Are these spring packs under pressure? Do I need to clamp them before I pull out the pack center bolt?
Thanks.

No Torchie, there will be very little, if any, bounce even if you have to cut the centre bolt. Sometimes the centre bolt unscrews nicely and sometimes it doesn't. Go for it.

I have done a bunch (12 so far) of s10s and have NEVER seen a leaf pack more than 3+overload. I would c clamp to remove the center bolt.

It looks like someone has chucked a bunch of extra springs in for whatever reason, you can see what looks to be the original 2 at the top, one with the spring eyes and the one below it, then things get crazy.

bananas. I use a 3/8 allen cap nut with just a little sanding on the knurling to get it to fit in the axle/drop block. the original center bolt usually isnt threaded enough to put the leafs back together. you only need the center bolt to hold the pack till you put the ubolts on.

by the by I would probably pull the extra springs and see how the u bolts fit first, they may not be 2" short by the time you pull the extras.

Thanks Mac and Joedoh.
That spring back is huge for a truck this size. At least in my opinion .
All the S10 investigation I’ve done showed the usual 3 pack plus the overload.
And if you pull the leaf below the main you get another 1-1/2inch drop. Or so.....
I guess it’s time to see if I can get under the truck to take apart that spring pack.

On the floor work all day. Duke gets watch full when I'm down on the floor.:D
Spring packs taken apart.
Where there were 7 there is now 2.:p
Here is how it sits with only 2 leafs and a 3" lowering block in the rear.
The mock up picture had a measurement of 9-1/2" to the floor from the rocker bottom at the front. And 9" to the floor at the rear.
This set up is still 9-1/2 at the front but a little over 7" at the rear.
A bit too much speed boat for this build, I think.
I'll raise the body up a bit tomorrow. All and any more room I can get from a shallower channel will be greatly appreciated.
Keep on keeping on.

Looking really nice!! All that floor work you deserve a break [cl

That I ended up cutting about 80 percent of it out.:D
Ordered 2 tires today. With my budget it's going to have to be a 2 at a time deal.
I'm also going to move the body forward a bit. Maybe 1/2 an inch or so.
It will center both the front and the rear tire better.
Keep on keeping on....

Moving day....
Moved the body ahead on the frame.
I figured at least a 1/2" but ended up with more like an Inch.
Much better .
I have the real tires on their way. (Well. Two at least.) I won't lock the body position in yet.
In keeping with the moving day theme.
Time to head over to Moms in law to move out her old frig.
The things that pass for fun around here. :p [ddd
