I built the tractor 4 years ago and always wanted to build a crawler, I had another of the same old riveted boiler tank laying around, the tracks, from an old street paving machine, I got from a friend about a year or so ago, they are self-contained with their own hydraulic motors.

Before I get too far ahead of myself...... The tracks are about 5' long and the tank started out as an 8 footer, so to get the proportions right a section was cut out of the tank and the end cap welded back in place. The engine bay and cockpit were cut out the same as on the tractor version.

The tractor uses a hand crank started 1945 Wisconsin VE4 air-cooled, the crawler will use a Wisconsin VH4D electric start.

The fabricated manifolds and new stacks are in place. The engine is centered and mounted in place.

Hey, Red. Big likes on both of these projects. Too much fun. I do have a couple questions, though.

Are you sure about the CG on this ride? You might want to consider a roll cage. [ddd :D

I wonder if there is a new class record at Bonneville waiting to happen.

Got a start on the hydraulic reservoir tank, it will mount inside the crawler body under the seat.

Ive had this old fuel tank for quite some time, now I can put it to use. It was much too long for the given space on the crawler so the section at the upper right of the first photo was cut out, then the end cap, bottom left. Also the fill cap section had to be relocated. The top outside radius of the tank, however, fits the inside of the tank perfectly. Centering the tank in the last photo to drill the mounting holes.

Headlights, roller chain trim, a fuel door, some old gauges, an old brass spigot, and an old brass tag.
