On my Willys project I've run into an issue. My rear leafs are factory 1 3/4" and the 8.8 I'm installing is set up for 2 1/2" springs. My plates are also the larger size. Don't really want to change either. Thought about cutting tube sleeves to go over the u-bolts, but is that even necessary? Can and/or should I run with what I have? Changing the leafs would be the right thing to do, but then I have to deal with the spring mounts at all 4 corners. Need some input.
Thanx

Weld some 1/2" key stock to the rear end pad to trap the spring and prevent the diff from shifting sideways. Works for me!
Or change all but the main leaves to the larger size. Might get a better ride, too, that way.
Or, cut the rear end spring pads down to fit the narrow springs.
Actually, the center bolts will probably hold it all together as is, just keep the U-bolts tight.
