So out and about today I spied this guy sitting at a salvage yard.

Looks like a 58 or 59 Rambler Ambassador Super. Decent body, but without looking underneath, who knows. The salvage yard is closed till Tuesday, so I'll have to wait to see. Also saw some Edsels and other oldies. Too far away to get clear shots of those.

Thinking about making it a slightly lowered crusier, I love the roofline. Ideas/swaps that will make it worthwhile?

Looking forward to Pics on Tuesday night. Keep an eye out for a 1959 Olds, any model. I need a few pieces.

I'll take a look Tuesday during lunch for you Ironrat. I also spied this through the weeds. Too far away to see anything clearly, but the hump of the roof.

If the bottom looks as good as the top, leave the paint, shine up the chrome, and fix the interior. Could lower it a few inches. May be metal flake the roof and the side strip? Clear coat the patina?

That's my fear, I'll get under the car and see cancer all over it. Would certainly be a fun cruiser, but not worth it if rusted out.

Ironrat - never made it over Tuesday, too busy at work to take a lunch. I'll try again today.

Rust is the issue, as everything I've read says these cars were lacking in that area.

I'll try to see if I can get some other pics while I'm over there. There is a 49 Ford pickup I was going to see about getting too.

Ironrat - no 59 olds, sorry.

Found some other goodies down in the weeds: Econoline pickup vans, some gremlins, some javelins, a horde (like 10+) of pinto's, some nash's and a couple other possible parts (1970 buick electra 4door with 350 and tranny being the most notable)

The guy wanted crazy money for the econos - 3k each, non running, rusted out. The 49 ford pickup was fairly reasonable (700), but no motor, transmission, interior or title.

700 isnt too bad as long as its not completely rusted out and the expensive stuff(front axle, steering box/column, and seat) are there. Depending on where you are, no location up top, titles aren't a big issue. Same with engine and trans. At least to me it isn't. SBF's and c4s are fairly easy to come by. Econolines aren't that rare so I would have to pass. Couldn't even make up the price on those selling the parts for top dollar on Craigslist or fleebay.
