Motor problems

So I pulled the trans about a month ago and the motor turned completely free and nice cause I turned the motor to get to the converter bolts well I went to turn the motor over when I installed the motor in my rat and it was froze smh . Well this is what happend and I don't know how It rusted that fast while having a carb , siting in the engine bay , and having the hood and the air filter on . Well I guess it's just time for a rebuild now . Rebuilding the motor was not in the budget for sure . Well gonna make the best of it and do dove c heads , a nice intake, carb and gear drive the motor , on top of new rings , maybe pistons . It's a 460 motor

Not going to be able to save that block without boring it or sleeving it. Pits look too deep to me. Probably cheaper to find another running engine. :(

Heads

Yeah willowbilly from what I've researched I can reach about 9.5:1 with my 86 460 and dove c heads with my stock pistons but that's just what I have read and have no prior exsperiance with these 460 motors and there little tricks for more power

I have a 429 with D0VE-C heads. From what I've read it's around 10.5 to one and won't like pump gas. I'm looking for a set of D3VE with hard seats and would probably trade

Why would 10.5 be a problem running pump gas? What octane#`s do you guys run overthere?
LPG could be an option...

Trans mount

Ok so getting my trans mount done out of 3/16 plate. This is the progress so far and a pic of how I ghetto centered my trans hahahah

Since your cross member looks welded in, are you going to bolt the tranny mount in so you can remove it if needed?

Yupp

That's right old iron if you look at the plate it has two square ears on the side that are gonna be drilled for bolt holes and bolt to the cross member .

Trans mount

Just need to drill a few holes and its done

Nice work on the trans mount. Looks great! [cl

I think the real question though is, how will you get the trans out if If you ever need to? It looks like you would need to pull the engine with it with a permanent cross member. Seems to me that making the cross member removable at this stage is a matter of a couple more plates and a couple more bolt holes in the frame.

Trans mount

Thanks skip and Kenny but for your question skip there is actually a lot of room in between the crossmember and the trans I'm thinking there is enough room for the trans to come out still but to be safe that's why I built the trans mount so wide cause I'm gonna Put the bolts wide enough to be able to cut a gap into the crossmemeber and Drop out the trans if needed .

That'll work. :D

So I completely changed everything

Ok guys so I’ve went with the I need to build this right instead of just getting it done . Made crossmembers and a detachable crossmember trans mount . And a complete change in the rear suspension . Cause my building skills have came a long way since I started this thing years back .

New frame crossmembers and trans crossmember
