Boxing plates are all welded now. Cleaned up the underside of the floor of the cab to get it ready for paint. I've ordered the rack and pinion but it's on back order so it could be a week or two yet. I want it in my hands so that I determine how much frame notch I'll need for it to have adequate clearance.

I hope to hear that my motor and tranny are ready soon as I'd like to finalize that positioning as well, then I can get the frame painted and start putting this back together.

cereal is not as healthy as it looks... way too much sugar... :rolleyes: great for cutting templates tho... :)
nice frame work :cool: that wont fall apart
 
LOL - thanks Dutch, but with all the meds I'm on now, my wife and I have to watch my diet very closely as the side effects mess with my blood sugar...the only cereal she lets me eat is that plain bran stuff - with 2g of sugar only. I think I'm getting used to it.
 
Between the grass and sorting out the Graham, I don't seem to find time to get anything on the Thriftmaster done. It did rain today, so I put another patch on the drivers door bottom, then painted the floor and rear end. I'm still waiting on the rack and pinion and the LS before I can finish the welding on the frame, I'd hoped to paint everything at once.....I just couldn't wait any longer!

A little news to report. My rack and pinion showed up, unfortunately damaged in shipping. It looks like it had been dropped and both the hydraulic lines were badly bent. It probably could have been repaired, but I figured for the money I'd spent on it, it could go back. Luckily he's a friend (the supplier) so he let me bring it home for a couple of hours and figure out the frame notches. So it may be several weeks before I get a replacement. The LS was ready for pickup yesterday, so I was able to bring that home. I heard it running on the stand, played with it a little bit and then loaded it up and home it came! Hopefully I'll be able to mock it up in the frame today. To be continued.....

So I found a few minutes today to put the motor roughly in it's place. I think it's going to be a decent fit, a few challenges but so far so good. I may have some difficulty getting the motor low enough to get the driveshaft to clear the underside of the rear cab mount/crossmember. I can only go so low with the motor, due to the oil pan/MII crossmember clearance, and I want the motor forward enough to clear the firewall. I also need to be sure of the clearance between the rack and pinion/harmonic balancer, so I was lucky enough to be able to borrow the rack back again for a few days. Hopefully I'll be solving these issues over the next few days without too much rework of anything! I guess a two piece driveshaft would be one way of resolving it.
