Quote: use a hand pump with gauge, pump it up to 20 psi and see if it leaks down. Put your foot on pedal ,a drop of 5 or 6 psi is okay.

the easiest way to test a booster is, with the engine turned off, pump the brake pedal 4-5-6 times until the pedal is rock hard. holding pedal down, start engine and idle, pedal should drop about 3/4" and be solid hard.

if the pedal is mushy, you have air in the lines, or a bad m/c.

if the pedal goes all the way to the floor, the brakes are not adjusted right, or you got a bad m/c.

also make sure the push-rod between the booster and m/c is the right length.
