Good stuff here. Gonna have to dig thru my archives. That vega in Skull's last post brings back old memories. I believe the driver then was Bob Holmberg. Used to run at Freeport, Islip & Riverhead on LI in NY. Freeport & Islip are long gone but Riverhead's still active.

Some useless info about Islip speedway...
It has been claimed that the first ever organized demolition derby was ran at the track. I've saw a few pics of it where a Model A ford ran in it.

Islip was the original home of the demolition derby & figure 8 racing. Back in the day ABC's Wide World of Sports used to televise the 100 car Demo derby championship & also the Figure 8 World Championship. It also hosted a Grand National race for a few years. At 2/10 mi it was the smallest track they eveer raced at. Unfortunately, it is now buried underneath a cookie factory.:mad:

HI Everyone

I have been following this group for a couple of years. Makes me wanna move to the state of Maine just so I can race with them. I would post pictures but I dont have permission to. So I attached the link.

These guys posted some videos on youtube also. Looks like a time warp for sure. They even have a young lady who races a 33/34 Ford coupe with them. I would love to drive one on the street....what ya think?

Looks like my kind of folks...

I grew up watching the best of the best race around at Fonda Speedway and Albany-Saratoga....back in the 1960's and 1970's too....this brings it all back to life again...

I went to a local yard that has some old stuff stashed away yet and found this old Buick.

I couldn't get very good pics because he has the cars stuffed in so tight. You would have to move ten of them to get just one out.
