roof supports

Got the sun visor ready to weld in place and started making the support for the roof top to be installed later...welding a 3/4 square tube in the grove along the opening in the roof...corners are a little tricky but worked out okay

awesome build, love the fab work. what are you using for dimpling your sheet metal? just curious if it is store bought or something you made.

Lookin' great, im always happy to see progress on this build! I was about to ask the same thing about the dimpling?

Roof supports

Thanks for the comments..as far as the dimple dies...they are store bought...my machining skills consist of a welder,hammer,torch and zip cuts and a bigger hammer...I don't have a laithe or know how to use one.....anyway I had never tried dimple dies before and was curious how they worked....back to welding....finished the main roof rail for the insert to be added once I put it all together for the last time...I then started on the tail lights...marked a stencil for practice then marked the body and cut the holes with a plasma cutter

Tail lights

Made pockets for the taillights and welded them into the body and fitted the 59 caddy tail lights...cut a hole in the roof for the filler spout which is from a 50 chevy truck...still have to cut the holes and weld in the pockets on the other side...hopefully they match...

That's some fine metal work!

I've looked through a few build on here, and as you can see, this is my first post...

This is phenomenal and I can't wait for the future updates.

Our machining skills are the same haha. Mind explaining how the dimple dies work?

By the way the tail lights look awesome, great metal work and choice for lights.

Dimple Dies

Again Thanks for the comments...it's nice to see you are following and are interested in my newest creation...I have been asked a couple times about the dimple dies...bare in mind I am in no way an expert and have only used these so far on my visor but it did turn out awesome...they are pretty simple to use...cut a hole the size you require and put one half of the dimple die in the hole and then put the other half on the other side of the metal and either press it together in a press or hit it with a dead blow hammer if it is lite gauge alloy...seems to work well without distortion

Finishing Tailights

Okay back to the fun stuff...cut the holes on the other side and made pockets for the other taillights as well and welded everything in place...decided to add a 3rd brake light above the back window so I punched 3 LED's in there as well....hooked them all up and got a light on the situation...looks pretty cool

Steering Column and Pedals

Spent some time in the seat to get the steering wheel and the pedals in the right spot....nothing worse than driving a rod with the pedals and steering wheel not set right...awkward and not really comfortable or safe...I two foot drive most of the time but still like to have the pedals so you can drive with only one...pretty much got everything lined up, just have to weld everything in place, and then onto something else....still more to do so I will have to keep at it...again thanks for the comments and views .

Page 8...#73 has the basic break down of the parts required...2" exhaust pipe with 1 3/4" bearings on the outside and they fit inside the pipe...3/4" inside an 3/4" shaft...I used a splined shaft universal for the steering box that is weld on for the shaft that I drilled so I can take it apart for assembly. The steering wheel end is a weld on Quick release hub front a sprint car. I welded it to the shaft. The cowl has a piece of pipe that was expanded enough to get the assembly to slide inside and bottom out then connect it to the box and hang it from the column drop....I know I should of been a Rocket scientist....Thanks for the questions and the comments..

Wow, no room to spare in these for pedals when they're channeled. I thought mine was tight, it seems so spacious now!

Roof Frame

Made a frame for the roof insert...formed it to the contour of the roof and then drilled it full of holes and put in buck rivets...should look pretty cool when its all done...lots of work though.

Exhausting!!!

installed a set of block hugger headers and then welded pipes on to them for the machine gun exhaust...I will drill and cap them so they can be uncorked and then run a full exhaust system under neigh...leveled everything up with coke boxes and 2 x 4"s
