Hey Guys thought it was about time to start my own Build Page. This will be slow progress, but progress will be made. This is my first rat rod build being mostly self taught on most things, mistakes will be made, help will be asked. Blood and sweat will be shed, but no tears because I will be smiling the whole time. The reason I picked this truck to rat rod and not your typical early model car/truck is because this my truck from age 17 and want to keep it and have fun with it. The first pics will be of the truck when I first "built" it at age 17. Shiney an clean with fresh paint. Times were rough on it and parked it with just over 600 000 km on its original 305. The build begins....[cl

Boxless

Last weekend me and my son (9 years) finally had time to torch off the last few bolts holding the box on. (he was armed with the fire extinguisher). now with the box off we can remove the leafs and shocks and start setting the axle up for 4 - link and accepting the 35" tires we bought used for $40 for the rear tires.

Tires put er up.. now to put er back down

Got the 35" tire mounted this week and put em on the truck to see how it looked. Now to start cutting and grinding to remove leafs, fuel tanks and shocks. Then start cutting to frame to get it back to sitting low.

So what's your plan with this? I like the thought of big tires but dropping it low! Will you cut out the wheel arches or tuck the tires up in the wheel wells?

There will be no box, so it will be open wheel concept.

Leaf Springs & Fuel Tanks Removed

This weekend my buddy came over and we started hacking away. Got both fuel tanks off and both leaf springs. Also learned brake fluid smokes ALOT when a brake line is hit with a cut off wheel lol.

I got my 4 link in this week with my airbags/brackets. Today i removed the rear axle. Torched off the axle saddles and shock mounts, to make room for the 4 link brackets. Even had time to rebuild the rear end. Probaly good that i did had a couple busted up shims.
