Buick help!?

Ok, I stopped & talked to my buddy yesterday who sold his Torino fastback to work on this car. It has a 455 BB & stock block-hugger headers. The header on the drivers side is 1/4" from the stock steering box (non P.S.). The steering box failed & he heard he can put in a Chevy 605 P.S. box that will work & give much more room. He thought it may be out of a Chevy van. Can anyone help him with this or any other suggestions!? I'll try to catch him again & take some fotos of the motor... it looks really kool up in that big cavern!!!

I have an extra steering box out of an 83 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4. I don't know if its the same, but if you want me to measure it I can.
