Well instead of letting this stuff pile up in the yard, I figured I would start piling up some pictures of it here.

I started back in December gathering up some parts for a new project. I really like the old F-1's and found a decent '52 cab. I had just about got my '49 back on the road after years of neglect. Now I'm working on both of them due to a fire with the '49. Anything worth doing once, well heck might as well do twice. Right?

I picked the cab up in East Texas.

I have always wanted to do a chop top, and am going to give it shot.

Was digging around on the web looking for information and ideas when I ran across the RRR site. What a find here!

The information and help is the best. I have spent the past few weeks scrolling through the threads looking at some of the ideas and craftsmanship of your guys work. It is outstanding and unbelievable!

I'm not real fast, and I'm pretty slow too. so this will not be a fast build by any means.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of what you have going on.

I will probably start with a BBC to start off with. Have a majority of what I need to put one together.

I would like to experiment with blown motor as well, have a lot of SBC stuff laying around that I might build as well.

Bought a powerglide tranny this past weekend along with the converter at the Pig Stand in San Antone at their monthly swap meet along with a set of rear wheels.

Had previously bought a narrowed 9” rearend

Kinda undecided on the amount of chop  thinking somehwere between 5"-7"

Want to go fenderless as well.

NICE!!!

that sounds like a cool build:D

4-5 inch chop should be plenty, unless foreward vision ain't to important to ya[ddd

the amount of chop also depends on how tall you are, if you are 5'9'' or more, cab space gets real cramped fast with a slammed lid.

Later:cool:

What to chop it at ???

Don't forget you can run the floor up to, pretty easy to do on these old Fords. I tackaled a not so easy to do chop on my 51 f-1. There are alot of 50's fords on this site take the time to get an idea. then go big!!!!:D

Yea have been looking at that as well, gonna have to do some floor work anyways and figured I would remove some from the bottom as well.:D

I had picked up a narrowed 9" back around the first of the year, spent the weekend cleaning it up. It had previously been in the back of a monza, turned out to be a bigger job than I expected. Reworked all the welds........

Well, been piddling around in the shop throwing a few parts together to see what I will have to work with. I pulled out the BBC and put her up on the recently built operating table for the project, then set the heads, intake, carb, and headers on. Looks like the headers are wide enough to clear the firewall and cab. And when fabing up the frame will be z’ing it about 6”. Staring to get a little more excited about it now.

Well, got the cab moved into the shop today with the help from a dolly very similar to the one Mike S. is using in his 40G build. Thanks for the the idea and pictures Mike.

Started bracing up the cab for the chop.
