it was J Walter Christy's 1905 Vanderbilt Cup entry.

it was powered by a 20L (1214ci) v4 transverse engine FWD, and incorporates telescoping U-joints to allow for steering. the dual RF tires were needed to take the extremes loads encountered on CCW oval racing.

He started working on the transverse/FWD set up in 1899. so all those modernists who think this a much later invention are once again WRONG.

as some wise guy once said, "there ain't nothing new in the auto industry."
 
A British 17 pdr round lodged in a block of armor from a Tiger I, which it failed to completely penetrate... whoa!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

Looks like it has suicide doors that clear the brackets. Don't think there's a windshield in it either. It fits pretty good tho...
