Default 2.3 ford 4 cylinder

looking at a 2.3 like what comes in rangers and mustangs for a engine non turbo , school me . what years cross over for simple carb and non computer ignition set up .

I ran one in the Willys, came out of the pinto I used the front end out of. Ran good just not very fast. Should be some thing early 70's to late 80's. Most stuff from 90 up are FI and computers.

Weber's work good. Side or down draft. Is "pinto beans" still around or eslinger (sp) they made power in the 80's. Ford still makes a version of it.

If The Ranger Station is still up, they had a lot of info on the 2.3 and 2.5. Havenít looked there myself in a while.
