Default 4cly Chevy

Can anyone tell me if a 4cly from a 94-97 s10 is non computer engine? Can it be changed to a carburetor? Is it anything like the older "Iron Duke" engine. I got a chance get one and a t-5 transmission pretty cheap. Was considering it for a project for my grandson in a Geo Tracker. Thanks

I believe the computers went into the s10s in 86. They can still be run if you can find an intake manifold to use a carb. I know there are manifolds available for the 4.3s not sure about the 4 bangers. Might be an opportunity to build one.

I really would like to find an older motor. The main thing is the electronics. I want to keep it simple. The older 4cly were tough and simple. I thought this might just be a newer version of the old engine.

Don't know about the 4 cylinder but, I just got done putting a 4.3 Vortec in a Geo Track that was converted into a carbureted engine with a HEI dizzy.
They make intake manifolds for them.
