Heh... need a place for the tank though...

I'm still working on the wheel wells, I didnt like the look/pitch of the body at the drop I measured out, I think I will be welding in a filler panel to move the body up 2" and a little more pitch to get the fins higher... I'll try to get pics later tonight, hoping I can get the filler panels cut today or tomorrow...

What is going under the Poncho trunk lid?

gold03

Going to be a regular trunk hopefully... Need a place to put chairs, cooler etc...

And I might slam a spare tire under it too, we will see...

Anyhow, tonight I spent way too much time getting a 1" deep crease out of the passenger side quarter panel up by the fin, it had rolled the edge of he sheet metal where the tail light bezel sits so it wouldn't fit properly. I also cut out the arrow, and got it mocked up and held in place with clamps.

I'm waiting on my filler strips to get laser cut so I have a nice clean edge to work from around the wheel wells, I will be filling in about 2" down from the current pictures, this will allow me the severe rake of the quarter panels I'm looking for, as in the second to last picture the tip of the fin is 49" from the ground.

The last pic is approximately where I'll be cutting the front, I wnated to cut more, but I have to have enough room for a 20" diameter fuel tank...

Located my powerplant

Coming along nicely. I gotta get out and finish my last cab corner tonight[;)

gold03

Thanks man, good luck on the cab corner!

Well I put in an offer on a rolled over E250 that already has the propane conversion and they accepted it, so now I have to plan on how to get the vehicle from NC to MI...

Obviously, its not drive-able, took a healthy hit in the RF tire area.
Any ideas on how to get this transported inexpensively?

No real build updates, but coming soon, as I plan on working on the rat a bit this long weekend.

On the parts end of things, I've secured the propane tank, and a mockup motor for free.
Still working on getting the donor vehicle here, but that will come in time.

Good & bad

Meh, the spare tank and spare engine fell through, oh well that was kind of a bonus anyhow...
Still have the E250 lined up for a donor vehicle.

Anyhow, tonight I got a lot of my scrap ready for the weekend.

Also, marked out the body to cut in front of the wheels, and tacked in the arrow on the right rear quarter.

Anyhow, not sure if you guys do this or not, but I paint the area I'm going to cut off in black so I can see how the body lines will look.

On to pics

I've done something similar using tape. Duct tape, masking tape, electrical tape...what ever I have handy but I like the black paint idea better. I also like where you plan to make the cut too.

More progress

That thing is looking pretty F-ing sweet!!!

Thanks man!!!, more progress, cut out the black areas, and continuing on welding in parts [;)

Possibly more tonight, if not, tomorrow morning.

Lookin' good. You're really nailing the proportions on this thing! Just curious, what's your plan for this area...

ratdirtyrat.jpg

I don't know just yet if I'm going to cut out the rolled lip there and make it flat, or leave it...
Something I'll probably address when I do the rockers as they are rotten beyond rotten..
