ugly

wow:eek: some serous rust out problem.

the year l used is a front steer 1978 sub-frame, but 1970 to 1981 is basically the same on camaro/firebird.

1973 to 1978 nova or nova clone will work and is front steer.

1968 to 1972 sub-frames are rear steer on the nova and nova clone cars.

1967 to1969 camaro/firebird is rear steer.

1970 to 1981 camaro/firebird is front steer.

the minor differences are motor mounts and some front bumper, rad and sheet metal attachment points, but since those are usually cut off and/or changed/modified it does not pose much of a problem on the frame horns.

GM used several styles of motor mounts for all the brands. l used 1966 chevelle big block mounts and welded them to the frame, it moved the engine back and lowered it at the same time. make sure to use the matching block side motor mount as they vary from year to year and car to car.

frame side---pic one is camaro----pic two sb/BB chevelle for comparison.

motor side---pic three camaro----pic four chevelle

horn, l do not know but the dodge pilot house forums should have that info.

Subframe, motor mounts

Good info. Much to learn. I like the fact that you don't move the cab with the sub frame install. Steering wheel not wanting to come off, will pull assembly up through new hole I cut in floor after separating ball joint.

weekend progress

The chain hoist was free for a reason. It's junk. Got the cab off with the engine hoist and a 2x10.

The old chassis is out

Room to work. Need that S10 inside soon. Found some cracks in the 51 chassis. Parts chassis only now for sure.

Off the hoist

Glad the cab is off the engine hoist. Time to clean the shop, and get the chassis donor inside for tear down. Will grab a new chain hoist at the store.

If one Pilot is good, two are better.

Some kind of tire smoker down the road.

A peck or kenning perhaps

The yellow hood gem is a 52. Others are a 51 hardtop and 52 sedan. Some pilots are like strays that need a home. :)

nice score

looks good, save the running boards, even if it is cut off, the front of those rust horrible and it can always be used as a patch, sold my extra set and the two l am using on the car hauler are in EHH condition.

post up some pics of the front/back of the "new" bed --- please.

l always liked the older round "H0T R0D" fenders than the newer longer/full size ones.

Another photo

Took a while to find. I will cut up the frame, keep the axle, and haul the box in pieces. Tail gate is munched.
