Making a mockery ... or mocking things up. I'm pretty happy with this look.

Needs a blower.

Seeing you in the seat puts the windshield in better light. A good friend had a T bucket with a tall windshield and it looked all wrong until he got behind the wheel...

It’s been a while since I had time to do anything with the bug project. Started fabricating the grill shell to fit the aluminum rad I bought. Don’t know what it was originally from but had to take 2 1/2” out of both the width and the height. I’ll be filling it in with some expanded mesh. Turned out ok I think but welding thin rusty sheet metal is definitely a patience building exercise!

Finally got the 4 link and shock brackets in place on the frame so I can roll this thing around the shop. Feels like a major milestone! Tomorrow I hope to start fitting the engine and transmission.

Moving right along!

A good day in the shop. Got the engine mounts fitted and the mock up engine installed. With the long water pump and clutch fan I have about an inch of clearance to the radiator. Fabricated a drop out transmission cross member and have the transmission bolted in. Now I can start figuring out where the body and Vega steering box will fit.

Chassis rocks SC. Nice job.

I've been fairly busy the last few days. I got the rad mounted into the grill shell and bolted on to the bug project. I also finally got around to mounting the front shocks .. and no, they won't stay green! And I got the Vega steering box positioned and shortened the drag link to fit. Quite happy with how that turned out.

With those things out of the way it was time to set the body back on. Took a while to clearance the back panel to clear the frame and four link but managed to figure it out. The body wound up a little further back than I had hoped for and, at the same time a little tighter to the engine as well. I had hoped to get away without having to recess the firewall to clear the distributor but this will not be the case. Oh well ... here are some pics of what was done.

It should be a blast to tool around in. ice work all around Larry.
