Default What to offer??Build direction?

There is this 30's to mid 40's I believe it's a Ford cab, frame and box sitting at a local truck shop just rotting away in the snow....average condition(a bit of rust but not too rotted).... just wondering how much a reasonable offer would be for it.... not experienced in this area and don't want to look like an idiot......also would this look decent on an 84' chevy s10 drivetrain(V6-T5)and frame.......totally fenderless..... afraid it might look too boxy!!...Opinions and build direction totally welcome....

Default Price!

Dream,
I would think an offer would depend on what kind of truck we're talkin' about! I've bought them anywhere from $500-$1500 but I usually don't buy without a title.

I'd say a couple hundred to start, add another hun or so if it has a real title, more if the doors work properly and the windshield cranks out. Just rear fenders alone in decent shape can be worth a good chunk.
S-10 chassis are great but not fenderless IMHO, the front suspension is just too ugly and you can't easily get the radiator where it needs to be on a well proportioned fenderless rod.

Offer as little as you can, and save the extra dough to buy the good parts you know you want for it! I bought my truck cab on a frame with two axles for $200. I have bought cabs for $100- 300. Just cabs. Before you worry too much about the direction of the build.... buy the truck. good luck.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I am quite new into this field and it's a lot scarier than ordering out of a Jegs magazine. I found out that the truck cab is owned by a guy from my local car club and he is planning on restoring it...doh....I guess the hunt is still on.....Lots of old barns around here hopefully I can find my diamond in the rough!
