early 50's Olds (Lake) Side Pipes?

Hi,
Is anybody running some lake side pipes or normal side pipes on a early 50's Olds (or another 50's cruiser)? How is the piping under the car? Do I have to leave the original exhaust system in case the lake pipes are closed?

I'm looking for some pictures to figure out how it would look on my 52 Eighty-Eight...

The headers on my '51 bel air end near the front door. You "T" off the collectors to the lake pipe, then have a muffler under the car if you want a quieter drive.

If the 50's look is what u're after... go for it! I don't run them but see them at shows!

Ah okay, like a double exhaust system.
Maybe with electrical exhaust flaps to switch...

Typically lake pipes have the bolt-on caps, so exhaust cut-outs aren't necessary, and in fact it would be redundant. Unless you want another place for potential leaks.
