We took 6" out of the middle of the frame, 13 1/2" off the front and will take 7" off the rear.
Then we may have to section the rear of the frame about 2" to to get the bed dropped to where we want it.
Hoping to save the stock location of the Dakota fuel tank, so we can use the submerged fuel pump and fuel sending unit from the Donor.

that doesnt look good pops. it LOOKS GREAT! [cl[cl[cl

nice work on the shortening, the dakota chassis is something I have wanted to mess with for a while, although colorado prices have been nose diving (finally).

We messed with getting the cab to bed fitment closer today.
Raised the cab 1 1/2" and dropped the bed 1 1/2". I like that a lot better.

Then we had to venture out to Albuquerque to get some 3/16" steel so we can build the mounts after some repairs to the cab.

That's because Chevy Colorado pickups are JUNK!:eek::eek:

A friend's son had one, it was always in the shop, never ran right, drove like crap. I drove it one day, man , what a POS. Nowhere near as good a truck as a S 10.

True story. If you get past the terrible powertrain, the suspension wasn't much better.

this is a cool lil truck ,, nice work !
do yoyu have a side pic with the lower deck stance?

Side shots are tough with the lift in the way. This is as good as I have.
It is before I raised the cab and dropped the bed 1 1/2'' each.
The bed looks high but these trucks have side skirts to cover the frame gaps.

Todays progress.....

My brides "CAD" work in preparation of floor replacement.
I'm working on bed mounts. I made the rear with 6'' channel. Will probably install a hitch in the future.

We got the fuel tank back in place and I hope we have enough room for connections on the top. It's about 2 1/2''. Need to check that tomorrow.
