How much rust is too much on a rat rod? Just wondering what the trend is a far as making repairs. Of course safety is a concern but what about say rusty cab corners? Do guys cut these corners back and leave the raunchy look? I tknow these cars are built according to each builders taste. Just wondering what is "vogue' in the rat world!

My 53 210 dont have rocker panels, fronts of the quarters are gone, and there are pin holes everywhere, but i dont care. I might fix these things later down the road but i like it the way it is. Gives her character.

I always remove and install a new floorboard.
Sometimes, I replace the cab corners depending on the customer. So far, all of them have wanted them replaced.
I'm building a 48 Chevy shop truck and will leave them until the last thing.
So, I like the surface patina rust, I guess I can't stand much cancer style rust.

Make it safe to drive anywhere and cosmetics are just that...to be seen.
I like solid mounting points and good floors. Rockers and corners always seem to be the least important to me, but...to each his own. Just my $.02
