My fishin buddy Jr. is working down there close to you Tobby. He found a honey hole somewhere to fish in the evenings after work. He showed me a nice one, about 2-3 lbs. the other day, but tonight, he texted me this one. He didn't have his scales with him so he doesn't know how much it weighed but 24" long and 14" girth...figures over 7 lbs. Funny, he was telling me everybody he asked about the place told him he'd do better north of where he was fishing.

the difference between a fairy tale and a fish story is one begins once apon a time the other this is no ****

Very cool Smallfoot,,great to put a face to a name also,, looks like one of the state parks,, MAN, looks like we need a fishing thread, if so I'll never get anything done.!!! But thanks everyone, I'll try to post some my fishing trips in also. Tobby

and my helper,,,

First:
The single bolt holding the front spring to the cross member idea is, shall we say, risky at best, and a serious death threat at worst. Too easy to break it and have nothing holding the front end to the frame. Two u-bolts is the standard for a good reason. I'd hate to see you in a ditch somewhere. Or worse!

It does look cool, but really not a good idea.

Even if it didn't break, it is not stable with one point of contact, and can rock and pivot around, and make it squirrely to steer. Which will eventually break it anyway.

please reconsider.

Second: I really like the look you are creating.

You've been busy Tobby! I see you're still finagling that front axle. I'm back to subscribed after about 2 months of dead quiet after the computer meltdown...

thanks Skip ,,,was not going to try it myself,, welcome back Small ,, think I got the box figured out ,,will post pics this coming weekend

Kind of had a meltdown myself,, Hernia surgery, lower both sides,,not fun. that was in October and just getting back to feeling like working.. Tobby

WOAH - disaster waiting to happen right there!!! Forget the single bolt, those shackles are going to get you or somebody else killed. Those can NOT hang by a couple welds on a single piece of tube! To make it worse they are already bottomed out, essentially making that a rigid front end. Shackles should be at approximately 45 degrees under FULL LOAD. Those are already maxed out, giving it zero suspension travel. That being the case it won't take long to shear those welds and cause aforementioned disaster. There is also no way to adjust caster in the axle with what you have. PLEASE stop and re-engineer everything there to a safe setup with proper geometry. If you aren't able to figure it out then buy a pre-engineered front end. Not something to gamble with...

I agree about the single bolt deal,,didn't say I was going to try it !! here are some pics of the hangers with about 200 pounds more than the truck will see on the front-end, which is 2in lower than ride height . I think the spring has good clearance.

going to add a brace to the bone to hanger tube. I can also adjust the caster from 0 to 10' where the axle bolts to the bone. thanks for the input all ..
