I'm trying to get my girl into rodding a bit or at least to start learning about cars. She has a little off the shelf go kart that she has fun with so we decided to build a kart from scratch this year. I had seen some karts done with wheelbarrow tubs as bodies that came out looking like mini t-buckets that I thought were cool so that's what we're going with. Here's the mock up and start of the frame.

Very Cool.
When I was but a wee fatherless lad, my brother and I got the brainstorm to attach a 3-1/2 hp Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine to the back of a Radio Flyer red wagon. Direct belt drive so we could push start it. Stopped it by grounding out the plug.:D
Bent up a conduit frame and everything to mount the engine.
It was a straight line screamer, but not great on the turning thing. :p [ddd

We made a little progress on the kart last night. We cut the end out of the tub and pinched it about 3 inches in the front to get the lines looking a little better and to get it fitting the frame better. Next it’s on to mounting the tub.

Lookin' good.

I'm thinking that the part you cut off can be flipped over and used for a start on the cowl/firewall.

Looking great [cl[cl[P[P[;)[;)

I see a "motor" in her eyes [cl[;)[;):)

Great Too See Our Sport Future In Middle Of A Build

I'm likin it...built one for the grandkid and the grown-ups are wearing it out...

What are your motor plans?

Thanks for all the positive comments! We’re having fun which is the main point! I’m not sure if we’ll do a cowl since it will make getting in and out of it hard but the cut off could certainly be used that way and it would be cool. For a starter motor, I have a 70cc pitbike motor that should be fun without being too fast. It’s got an auto clutch but it’s a 4 speed so it will get a shifter. The cool thing about it is that we can graduate to a 125cc full manual if we want to and it will be an easy drop in.

I’ve got a super cool surprise for it too! You’ll have to stay tuned for that though!!!

"Super Cool Surprise" and it's not even our birthdays....[ddd
The cart kind of looks like a front engined Dragster.[cl :D

There's a Chevy powered one that shows up at the Rat City Ruckus (saw the video, wasn't there). Guy drives it in and out after the show.
