He's a good kid that wants to know everything possible concerning rat rods and hot rods of any kind. Some times I just have to tell him I don't know, but we can figure it out.

We got the front end stripped down and ready for bushings and ball joints.
Gonna do a little sand blasting and paint before reassembly.
Found a bent ball joint stud. I don't know how that happened without bending control arms. Everything else just looked tired and old. Kinda like me.

Front end rebuilt.
Got started on the frame work. I have no idea what this frame is out from under but it seems to be straight and square so I'm just going to replace the body mounts and square them up, do a little boxing work and run with it.

The transmission came in but of course it was not what I ordered so still waiting on that. Got lots to do so it is what it is.

Off with the old ugly and on with the new.
I need to trim down the gussets so they don't look quite so
boxy and build the rear mounts next week.
Going to go chunky dunkin with my grandkids in Texas tomorrow.

I just can't figure out how it can take 2 days for me to do a 4 hr. job.
Then again I did have to re-align the cutting head on my plasma table,
change the oil in my pick up, fix the door opener in the shop, go get oxygen and welding rod, go to lunch, take a nap.

Never mind I think I've got it figured out. L

Got the rear cab mounts done and patched the gaping hole in the front cross member. Mounted the 518 overdrive transmission. Tomorrow gonna get the motor mounts/transmission mounts done. Maybe get the cab clearance around the motor done.
Fun and games!

Lookin good. I like the cab mounts they look nice. Any idea why there was such a large hole in the front cross member?
