Okay so here's the scoop I was snooping around today and got a chance to talk to a guy about a 47-55 Chevy pickup with a 9 foot box and it sounds to me I can pick one of two up for 400 bucks. Would I be stupid not to buy it even though I don't need another project. By the way they both seem to be complete and one has a old sun visor I kinda wanted for another project.

Here's some pics of the one I'm wanting to buy. Over all its solid for something of its age and been sitting for probly 15 years or better in this exact spot

And if possible I'm going to try to get him to throw the doors off of this one in just because of the old writing on them

That looks like a 47 I'm thinking, and I also think the 9' box only came on the 1 ton, but I might be wrong, I was one time before.
The rear fenders are for sure later model, I'm thinking 64-65 on those.

I got $350 out of the last visit I had off of one of these. I'd already own both of them.

I believe the entire bed has been changed, not just the fenders.

Well it is a one ton but thanks guys for pointing out the fenders. It never dawned on me that those are the wrong fenders. Really stands out now that I go look at pictures of the other one with the rounded fenders but its a late one with the one piece windshield

Long box trucks look great slammed to the ground in my opinion. Buy it, make it run, slam it, and sell it. Don't get fancy and you might make some spending cash.

$400?? Around here, you find stuff like that on CL for $1200. Not sure it sells for that much, but for some reason within 50 miles of Davenport/Quad-city area everybody thinks their junk is gold!

Agree on the bed. Flat top rails, and 55-1/2 up fenders.

That said, get them both! Its a rat. Bed accuracy is not critical. I would change the fenders, though if I could.

I saw a long bed 55 years ago slammed with a little more down in the front. It looked kinda like a dragster. Really cool.

Definitely the bed is from a 55-59 truck. The cab is early, I don't remember specifics but probably 47-48. The side vent on the cowl was only on the earlier trucks, I believe. Depends what you want. There is definitely potential to turn it into something for that price. I paid a little less than that for my body when I bought it.

If you want them get them ,, they may not be there next time you think about them .. I give $400 for my cab .. just a few years ago I wouldnt have even thought about my cab for $400 , but now every thing is scraped up . so there is nothing left here ,, better get it while you can they aint making them no mo .

They don't look like it to me. :D Or did I miss something?

I think I would be trying to cut a deal for the pair, if it was what I was looking for. Then high-grade the best parts for your project, and sell off the rest. Done right, you can start with a cheap or free body.

Yeah I can only get one. Whichever one I don't take is already spoken for by a coworker and don't want to **** him off because his place is where I hide my purchases lol. And as far as the bed goes I really don't care because I'm really considering building a crew cab for a family rat at some point and time but that's a ways down the line at my rate of building... Going on 10 years for the binder pickup and now thinking about skipping over and going to the binder mail truck instead
