Why do they bid off a car and they have a reserve bid ? This is a waste of time if you know what is the least you will take for the car Just spit it out !!!!! this way you wont waist time bidding on it ,,,, Thats just like people sell stuff on these buy, sell&trade sites ,,, then they want you to PM them for a price ,,, OMG get over your self,, just tell what you want then we will decide if we want to talk to your or not ... I didnt bid on nothing but I seen a car and I thought about bama and thought I check the price to see if it was in his ballpark he was looking at .. well they said the reserve bid was hidden ,,,, well thats stupid ... [S

I guess I'm all done now

If they want to be coy about money
I don't talk to them
If I want to play money games there are plenty of casinos

I agree the reserve auction game is strange... maybe that just do that to see how high people will bid... I've seen many cars in the 10's of thousands with bids of only 900-1200 I guess that tells them how much their ride is worth... LOL :D

I'd say sometimes people know that they have something worth money but don't know how much money. So they put a reserve on it at the price that they would be happy at but they are really hoping for a higher amount. I've consigned items to auctions expecting to get around a hundred bucks and I get way more then that and way less. It's a gamble and the reserve makes it seam a little more safe for the seller.

Early in dabays life, people were actually able to steal something worth a lot of money because, of not having reserve available.
I agree on the hidden reserve being dumb.
All auctions, even Barrett Jackson, has a reserve that the bidder can't see.
The Starting Point is where the seller needs to set their auctions beginning.

I always post the reserve price in the listing that way it ends all the questions. And if people don't want to at least cover the bid then they won't bid.

Old Iorn I agree if you have a min. you will take then thats where it should begin ..

455 thats the way it should be and I understand you want more than its worth but if your selling , do some home work on your stuff .. find out what the max and min its worth.. then if your happy go for it

Ebay reserve stuff almost never sells. Most people are just like us and don't want bothered with the whole secrecy thing.
Here is a prime example. I had a #11 Griswold skillet to sell. I see them selling $135-$150. There was one listed and bogged down at $100 with hidden reserve. I put mine up for $140 buy it now and it sold in hours, his never went past $100.

Also hidden reserve almost always means they think it's worth more than it really is.
