the high in the front "Gasser" look is a misconception.

as the rules read at the time these cars were in competition, all cars must remain level at a stand still.

if you go back and look at all the competitive Gas coupes and sedans, most were very close to level.

those nose up cars handle speed like ****, too much air under the car, gets very squirrelly at speed.

these examples are properly called Street Freaks, without fenders they would never be allowed in the gas classes, they would be altereds!!

You are correct BN....but NHRA rules if I remember,

didn't prohibit it until 1964 or 65 I think..after that it said that the body or frame cannot be raised to gain weight transfer....but most "street" gasser style racers were always nose high .....

Had a friend way back when had a 68 Nova gasser style
big block ,tires hangin' out.... so bad.......
we were cruisin' the main one way street down town one night and
he was checking himself out in the store windows, arm out the
window, sitting cocked in that bucket seat ...you know we all been there
when suddenly BAMMMM..... he rear ended the car in front of him that had stopped
to parallel park......... still funny
