Did a quick build yesterday. Despite modern day technology I deferred to using an older method of photoshop. I took a picture, printed it onto paper and got out the scissors and tape. I call it photo chop.
Perhaps I’m slower than most in this age of 3D printing technology or a photoshop program that I never seem to have enough interest to learn but I’m pretty happy with the results. (I can even make engine noises and push it across my desk, something I’ve yet to see from a photoshop).
Now hopefully my pictures show up and y’all can have a look at what I have in store for the next project.
Any and all opinions welcome. I’m wondering I should go with a pillar between front and rear windows or not.
This is a ‘35 Plymouth deluxe sedan transformed into a coupe.

Beautiful car! Worthy of being run as-is.

Personally, I would run in an entirely different direction with this.

  1. Pick a door configuration by deciding which way you want it to hinge.
  2. Stretch the doors to a reasonable length for a coupe.
  3. Use the leading edge of the front door window frame on your new doors of choice.
  4. Use the complete rear side window in either case.
  5. Shorten the body accordingly.
  6. Add the couple butt that you must have stashed somewhere.
  7. Send the sedan butt to Skip to use on his next project. :D
That is what I would do, but as it is not my project, I support your build 100%. [cl

I agree with most of your points Skip. Sending the sedan butt may be a costly venture from Canada so I’ll hold onto it, maybe build something out of it.
I did happen to pick up a few other cars in the last year. A ‘37 Chrysler and what I figure is the rear half of a ‘34 Plymouth.
I bought these cars for the rear section of the build as I’m not skilled enough to build that compound curve on the hip line where the trunk would sit. I’m not even sure I’m skilled enough to make this work, but I have the confidence to giveit a go.
Still not 100% on anything just yet except two doors, a ridiculously public nuisance of an engine (one that thumps and begs to go fast).
Here’s a couple pics of the donors for the rear portion.

You are truly a fortunate man. I see three workable projects there. I think the back half you have will adapt to the sedan. Then You have a whole coupe to work on. My head would be spinning.

You asked for opinions...

Forget the Frankenstein poop coupe.

The '34 is an entirely different car from the '35. The two "halves" won't match or meet in any sensible way. The '37 is equally different with different lines and like your photochop shows, the roof is a problem.

Your sedan looks really clean and solid. Why butcher it? If it were mine, I'd seriously consider a two door conversion and a butt reduction...

Thanks doc, now thats crafty looking.
I did do some research and realized that both “donor” cars are in fact completely different from the ‘35 or quite a bit anyways. I was thinking I would be able to get close. Frankenstein close is fine by me.
Now you have me thinking. Thanks for the vision doc.
Truth is this project is a ways out yet due to relocating.
I have been thinking of the sedan to coupe conversion for awhile now but Skip makes yet another valid point, just use the coupe.
We’ll see, maybe I’ll keep it simple this time around, probably not but we’ll see.
At any rate cutting and taping that “build” up was a good way to entertain myself and see how things could possibly go together.

I like Doc's ideas.
The sedan would look good as a tudor slant back, too. (no butt)
Sharing vision is one of the things that makes this site great.

Great projects!. One more opinion.
If it were me I would consider using the the 4 door the way that it is. ( I have a thing for suicide rear doors.)
OR...
You could look at mating the 4 door front clip to the 37 Chrysler coupe body.
Good luck on your move.

While ya'll's brains are all couped up, you could leave the front doors alone, solidify the sides and rear doors, cut the luggage bump and turn that thing into a delivery....[ddd:D

Honestly tho, coupe the coupe...
