Narrow line masking tapes are expensive. Whenever I need some 1/8", 1/4" or what ever size masking tape for contours, I cut it from a standard roll. Just clamp a utility blade down at an angle on top of 1/16", 1/8", 1/4" material and rotate the roll. It'll usually give 4-5 feet before you'll need to cut some more. Also, the cheap 3/4" Home Depot tape sticks really well when cut down to narrower widths.

Already thinking about some kind of jig with multi blades to cut it line 9 line.

Awesome tip and a big money saver.

Good man! (I missed this the first time around.:()

Here's something I discovered 20 years ago...

A roll of masking tape fits a common packing tape gun...

... I removed the serrated blade, plastic "flap" and guard seen here...

... bent two razor blades, (one left, one right) and enlarged the slots to allow adjustment for width. (the blades break but the crimped reinforcement holds them together)...

attachment.php

... screw a blade down (with the original fastener) and set to desired width...

attachment.php

.... load tape and draw past the blade.
