I just picked up a 31 chevy truck cab, doors and hood. 150. Can't beat that deal. Truck has tag on firewall. Trying to see if this number is good?
It has number, two letters, then 4 numbers... Is that right? Or are some numbers missing? The letters are LT... Was told that comes up 1.5 ton.... Is that true?

32 chevy Rat Rod ... on you tube has a confederate chevy truck ... his tag was on the firewall .. the frame number I think he said was almost under the front drivers cab mount ,, I talked to him when I had a you tube account but I cant get into it anymore .. He is a real nice fella . He can tell you a lot if you were interested in looking him up

Sounds like a body tag, not a serial number.

Exactly. (Your serial number was stamped on the original engine block.)

Your tag's first number is the GM plant code,

1 - Flint, Michigan
2 - Tarrytown, New York
3- St. Louis, Missouri
4 - Kansas City, Missouri
5 - Oakland, California
6 - Atlanta, Georgia
7 - Norwood, Ohio
8 - Buffalo, New York
9 - Baltimore, Maryland
10 -Van Nuys, California
11 - Janesville, Wisconsin

- LT indicates year and model - 1931 1.5 T

- The last four digits is the production sequence number.

I understand some states accept this ID but don't count on it. Check your local DMV and good luck!
