Got some more done today. Started on the rear section today. I thought I'd need to split the roof lengthwise,
but after I cut it and placed it, it'll work to just bend the posts. Sweet!

Anyhoo.... I decided the best place to cut the roof would be between the two main bows.
I added some bracing before the cut line.

Lined up the C-posts and it leaves a 5-1/4" gap.

It also brought the back end out to something more manageable.

I used the top of the rear door to align the two sections.
There is a slight curve that needs to match up.

Another 1/8" needed to be cut from the C-post for the door frame to line up. And the roof.

attachment.php

Next, the C-post was about a 1/2" off on each side. So to get the post to line up,
I cut the lower post at the belt line. The top part just bowed out.

Adjusted post compared o the door.

Just a pic with the top off. What a mess.

Lines up well.

The posts line up nicely.

Tacked in place. I may still need to tweak the curve of the door frame.

And that wraps it up for today.

I see much welding, hammering and grinding in your future..[P

So which of your photochop options did you decide to go with ?

Lookin' good, keep it comin.

I'm going to try to keep it a 4door. 4"chop, 4" section (whatever the metal allows).

If the doors/door glass got to be a problem, then I was going to go for option 2 - panel. If that failed - convertible.

I liked the panel a lot (A LOT!), but decided to stick with doors in the end because of functionality.

I didn't get to spend but a few hours in the garage today. Worked on filling the gap. Managed one side, but the other, I got a bend off so need to go back and make another piece. I'll need to relief cut the rear section to match roof sections - I'm planning that cut at the top of the edge filler pieces. (Drip edge to be added later.)

Looks to be a good fit.

And something I pulled out of the scrap bin I didn't know I had!

Made a new piece and got the other side tacked together (got called away).
That's probably gonna be about it for a few days.

Didn't notice until I quit working, the garage was kinda cold.
