Anybody have a big lathe?

Anybody on here have a lathe big enough to hold a late model chevrolet 17" wheel?

I like the look of some of the late model factory wheels. The lug bolt pattern is the same as toyota, but the center hole is too small to fit on my daughter's jungle jeep project. I have heard of people machining the center holes bigger, but I don't have the tools and don't know anyone that does. Anybody on here have the capability to help a brother out?

are there any machine/fabrication shop in the area? seems they should have lathe. maybe a welding shop that does big jobs.

You could use a milling machine like a Bridgeport and bore the hole. Before you do is the back spacing of the new rim going to work?

If the backspacing isn't right, a spacer might solve both problems.

The old toyota stuff has manually locking hubs. I need to cut a hole/bigger hole.

I haven't actually touched/measured these wheels yet. I just like the way they look in the parking lots at big box stores ...and I know they are the same 6x5.5 as a Toyota....and I see them used on craigslist for $200 as set.

I wonder what kind of fixturing I can come up with to mount a wood working router.....

Yeah, they probably need spacers too. Not worth it when you factor everything.

I've got a set of 17" 6-bolt Weld wheels, the guy I bought them from was going to put them on his old Toyota 4x4 but had the same issue - the center hole was too small.

I found a better deal on craigslist. Toyota fj cruiser wheels like these:



A set of 5 with tires and lug nuts for $100

I may end up needing spacers...but no machine work.

$20 wheel and tire [cl a deal like will make any thing look really good.

I looked through the lug nuts this morning and found out the guy threw in a set to locking lug nuts too!

When I picked them up, I drove the f250 and burnt 1/4 tank of gas going to Nashville and back. Turns out I could have taken my Yaris.

Headed to dad's house now.
