Good stuff, bob. [cl

How tall were you in grade 3?

Are all your grandkids blond(e)?

.

Well under 4 Foot, Dr C. I was 4'11" and 89 pounds when I got my drivers license at age 15.

Yes, they range from blond to light brown. Seven boys and two girls and not a problem with any of them. Whew!

Ain't nobody posting stuff so I will. Here's a shot of my son and I along with 4 of the grandkids (none belonging to my son) heading for the Goodguys show in Des Moines, Iowa. Everyone is blocking my '38 Dodge bobber truck so you can't see it. Both the truck and the chopped '49 Plymouth are gone.

Also, want to see Steppenwolf for $4.00? You'll have to go back to1970. The same radio station hand out shows the top hits from July 31, 1970

More local history.

"Saskatchewan Motor Company" I believe this was the first dealership established in this city.

Side shot of this dealer. (I assume it was taken for the signage.) Showroom window on the far right.

attachment.php

This building still exists, just a little down the street from my favorite speed shop.

attachment.php

I've forgotten where this dealer was located. I'd love to have one of those indian heads on the facade.

Neil Motors. The kid is apparently the son of a partner in his custom built car.

Body shop and used car lot...

Across the street was the new car lot, offices, showroom, service and parts department.

Steeple Morden is a village in Cambridgeshire county, England... the site of an RAF/USAAF airfield through WWII...

attachment.php

"A former World War Two military airfield. It began in 1938 as a satellite airfield for Bassingbourn, operated by the Royal Air Force. Initially the main user was 11 Operational Training Unit. They took part in the first "thousand bomber raid" to Cologne. They were followed by American reconnaissance units in 1942 and by 17 Operational Training Unit. The airfield was then selected for expansion and was redeveloped within the parameters of local topography. The redeveloped airfield consisted of three concrete runways, an aircraft hangar (Type T2) and a number of Blister aircraft hangars. There was a technical site with a control tower at the northern edge of the airfield. The airfield was then primarily used by the United states Army 8th Air Force 355th Fighter Group: Steeple Morden was designated USAAF Station 122. Their main role was to attack German airfields and infrastructure. The airfield closed in 1946 and was sold mostly to the pre-war landowners for agriculture in 1960-1961."

A memorial stands there today.
