Butter - no kidding. I'd experimented with every concoction I could think of, trying to make the range hood look old. My wife didn't want it turning green....a month's worth of experimenting (lemon juice, ammonia, salt, liver of sulfur, etc) and in the end it was butter.

Default Progress

Well, in spite of the hot weather, I've been able to find some time to keep things moving. I built some frame work to support a box covering the fuel cell and battery, and fitted some plywood to the frame. I need to get my hands on some black carpet to cover the plywood now.

I also received my front wheels, headers and wiring harness, so the next few weeks will be exciting. I need to modify the headers a bit, as I'm not really happy with their location under the body. The front wheel clearance (drivers' side obviously) is a bit tight for my liking, so my modifications will clear up both issues with one rework.

Don't give up, it's far too much fun once you can drive it.

Default Thanks

Thanks Earthman (me too!)

Quick little mock up to show some friends the direction I'm going....funny how some people "get it", and some people just don't have a clue.....just as well, it wouldn't be so much fun if it was mainstream.

Default Clear....

So, before I got too carried away with the final build, I had a second thought and figured I should try to "lock down" that beautiful 89 year old patina. The roof panel had this dusty rust thing happening, and I didn't like it, so I painted just the new panel in satin black, and then put a flat clear over everything. I'm not sure how it will hold up long term, but it looks great in my eyes right now! I painted the dash in an army green, and cleared it as well. That green is pretty close to the original colour.
