rear brakes 2 by joaquinn lopez, on Flickr

moving stuff around on the rear suspension to make room to put the caliper where i want it

the caliper has a cable park brake built into it

im going to have to play with the spring rate but i know my springs are way to stiff now because the location they are mounted at

rear control arm by joa kwin, on Flickr

i offset my rear control arms 3 inches outward

this way i dont have to run deep dish wheels but i still will get the wide look that im after, and deep dish wheels are hard on the wheel bearings

1.25 dom 120 wall tube is what the arms are made out of

i still need to make lower coilover mounts

im thinking of changing up the front suspension to make it wider
im still looking into it and measuring stuff up

but im thinking about putting Honda del sol front suspension on some how

so that i can run stock length axles,
stock Honda spindle and hub and change to the Honda wheel bolt pattern
4x100mm

the mini is 4x101.6mm

stock Honda parts are way cheaper to buy vs importing classic mini parts
and Honda civic/ del sol parts can be had from the local junkyards

What is going on here? Taking one brand's body and then using an entirely different brand's drive train and suspension system! Unheard of, I tell you, unheard of! Surely you should know better! You have no respect for automotive purity, young man. No respect at all!

Now where is that LIKE button. [cl

any type of vehicle parts is up for grabs when it comes to building a one off vehicle
doesn't matter if it comes with 4 wheels, or 2 wheels, anything can be made to work

my rear coilover spring set up is meant for dirt track racers, before those i had a pair of Harley Davidson coilovers from my older brothers fxr, those springs are kind of on the light side for the mini, seeing how the fxr is kind of a lighter Harley bike vs the newer style 103 dyna's

lower coilover mount by joa kwin, on Flickr

lower coilover mount

i need to paint the spacers, but so far, im happy with how this came out

i think this is the 3rd version of the lower mount,

its just the way it goes, i will re-do the work a hundred times if i have to,
if that's what it takes for me to be happy with the outcome, then its worth it

i think the rear caliper brackets, i made those mounts out of wood close to 20 times, and then the 1st aluminum one i didn't like

rear arms by joa kwin, on Flickr

no more mods to the arms
they are back on the car, sway bar hooked up

i need to buy some new rotors and pads
and paint the caliper black with some caliper paint

i have to put one of the 1/2 inch bolts in on the right rear coilover

ran out of time last night and just got back from a 180mile road trip

so sometime this week i will get that bolt in

im ready to start running park brake lines
and steel brake lines

i need to turn the car around to fit the front clip back onto the car
but i need functioning brake system on the car so that i can drive it out and back it into the garage

mid month the front clip will be mounted to the car again
