when i was a kid my grandpa used to put leaded gas in a unlead chevelle.he told me that it would protect and lube the engine.what do you guys think?

Fuel additives to take the place of lead in unleaded gas are primarily to lube and protect the non-hardened valve seats in old engines intended to use leaded gas, hope this helped answer the question.

the lead 'gas or additive' lube and also helps seal some things like valves a friend had a older motorhome it was very hard to start ran ok added lead starts GREAT runns very good

Marvel Mystery oil works well too.Pint per tank full. Used to use it in the stock car.Great upper cyl lube.You can even put it in the oil for lifter clatter.
