So this is what I found when I tore the caddy down.
The good news is that everything else looks good. The motor has been rebuilt in the past . The crank is 30 under but the bore is still original . I found a place to get a used connecting rod .So I need to get that and a gasket kit and I can get it back together. I am also going to throw a set of seals into the heads.

It bent enough to rub against the crank and stop it from rotating

Water in the wrong place at the right time. Good thing it didn't start or the out come would have been worse. A little luck goes a long ways sometimes.
Stay after it.

I'd save that rod for a decoration somewhere. Maybe for a trophy.

I got a used rod and a gasket kit coming for the 390. There is a guy in PA. that deals in old caddy parts . I should have the parts by Saturday . Right now the truck is outside covered up with a tarp . There is not enough room for all of my projects in the garage .

It has been a while. Got it all back together. Went to a local (small show ) ended up getting Veterans choice and peoples choice . I painted the engine up. It looks nice in Cadillac blue . I will post some pics tomorrow . I am also building a breather so water will not get into the engine again.

This is the breather cover I built so I don't have any more problems with water getting into the engine.

I built it out of this old refrigerator door and a louvered top to a fuel oil stove.

It ended up being 24 pieces . It is not perfect. But I am a truck driver not a body man.
Then I painted this on the back of the cap because people kept asking me where I bought it.

Nice detailing on the Caddy engine. It contrasts nicely with the frame and body.
