I have been doing a bunch of spending unfortunately lol and a bit of wrenching. I popped the cylinder heads off to find bits of plastic from the air intake burnt on the tops of a couple pistons and a decent sized chunk lodged in 1 of the spark plugs. When the van was wrecked it obviously sucked in bits of the intake, I was slightly concerned about it when I pulled it off the throttle body during disassembly and the plastic was broken.
I decided to do the smart thing and knock the pistons out to clean all the **** out of the ring lands and off the tops. Thankfully none of the cylinder walls were damaged just some glazing but I ordered a ball hone to take care of that. Now for the rod bearings most of them looked spectacular, there were two that had scoring enough to catch your nail and certainly warrant replacement. I have some clevite H series main and rod bearings on the way to fix that. As far as the crank rod journals look pretty good just a home polish job will take care of that. Mains probably don't need attention but ill probably lightly polish them anyway.
For camshaft I went with a comp 54-469-11, I'll include a picture of the cam card. I ordered a freakshow 3200-3400 converter with anti ballon plate should be here this week. As far as valve springs I ordered pac1219's. I have ls9 head gaskets on the way and I need to order a trunion upgrade ill get the brass bushing set same ones I had in the 5.3 I'm just not a fan of the other style. I'm thinking about ordering a carburetor from AED as I sold the brawler, I was talking with pro systems however when I dug deeper I've found quite a few unhappy customers. If anyone else can suggest a good carb builder I'm all ears but I'm also looking to stay around 700 or less.
Anyway as soon as the bearings and hone shows up I'm gonna slap her back together. I have to gap the rings as well once I hone the cylinders as there's probably a small plate system in this ones future, speaking of I bought a ring grinder from jegs and if you're in the market save yourself the trouble I'm sure it can be made to work properly and I will but I'm sure there's a better product.

Interesting information. How do you home polish the crank journals?

I'm using mother's metal polish and strips of microfiber rags wrapped around the journals. It's always seemed to do the trick for me ill add some before and after shots I'm still not done yet but she's looking good
