Hey everyone!

As you know by now I am a car junkie... i have projects popping off all over the place! I'm sure you are thinking.... where does he get this from, well now you find out. My father bleeds orange and loves all kinds of cars but Chevy is his favorite and his weakness is vettes... anyways... a year or so ago he was delt soem unhappy news about prostate cancer from his doc... He had always talked about the 70's/80's and the muscle cars he had, so I stumbled across a CL add for this camaro... and had him look at it, then I brought it to the house... now over a year later it seems that the PSA numbers are down and it is time to turn up the speed on this build... Over the past year many parts have been gathered and put away....

Stay tuned this should be fun![P

Pick-up & Delivery...

Here are some shots of the camaro when we got it.... the P/O had plans on making it a drag car... fortunately we got it from them before they did too much to it.... We got a great deal because the PO's some hit the door and fender with a tractor....

Good news is there is pretty much NO rust, and it is a factory 4 speed car :D

The Nose

My father wasn't too crazy about the '76 nose he preffered the 70-73 or the 80's ..... when I went to pick up a bumper for another project I stumbled across this.... and a year later went back to get it.... and the price was like a dream come true.... under $100 it.... now before I went to pick it up i had come across a very clean driver grille and bumper.... So all the parts are starting to fall into place...

For sure an improvement. I'm with Dad all the way on this.

Moving Along..

Thanks for all the positive vibes guys!

A pic of a grill and bumper that I came across a while back..

The last pic is when my dad was looking to see how tall of a tire he could run, not sure why he thought my wheels were a good idea, I thought a tape measure would work fine :D....

We are planning on some 15x12's in the rear.. unless he decides to go with some 18 or 20 by 12"s and some smaller front runners... Centerlines, Cragiers or Riddlers.... or something along those lines....

Are you using the fenders from the 70/73? I am doing a 78 now and was wondering if that could be done.
This is the 1st one with the 74 or newer one I have done and find it ridiculous how they made the changes.
Hope all is well with your Dad.

The Camaro we bought is a 76 the front fenders are the same from 70-77 at 78 they changed the front fender design. We won't be changing the rear, at least not now, there are big changes on the back end.

A Teeny Tiny Bit of Progress

Drug the fonr nose out and attempted to blast it....

Pick-up some black diamond but the nozzle keeps clogging, so I'm thinking.... may I don't know what I'm doing... so I remove the nozzle and blasted away... but the compressor had trouble keeping up, so I think I'm going to have to hook the moster up when using this particular blaster...

On the engine scene... Dad has the new cam installed and roller rockers he also installed new timeing gears and chain and a chrome time chain cover, I snagged him a set of chrome pulleys for the front.... it looks like the engine is going to be red :D he was going to do it orange.... but we have a couple that are orange... and I think that with tis set up the red will work really well.

I like the ones with the split bumpers and the round parking light by the headlights. I can't remember if that was the RS or Z28 that had those, but they always looked better than the full bumper cars to me.

I'm right there with you except for the $$$. May go that route if I can find that part for under $300 I can always fill in the lower area... Already have lights I believe that will work....

I like your project. It brings back good memories
My brother had a 1970 camaro when we were teenagers.
It had the full bumper. It was a fast one with a 454.
My 67 camaro had a 427.It came with 283 but we fixed that quick.
Those were the good ole days.[cl

Wheel Swap....

Picked up these awesome wheels at the NSRA... Street rod Nationals Plus... for the cheap! This moves the Camaro closer to the direction my dad wants to go with it, so it's a definate win! :D

Yup. Those rims look more like what that car needs. Of course, Ansen Sprints would be perfect. But that's just me. American 200s would be right for it too. Of course, you would have to settle for 10-inch wides.
