I've read that you can put a flat clear over a regular glossy paint job and it will flatten it (not sure if true).

Is the opposite true? Can take a car painted with a satin clear, scuff and shoot glossy clear to make the paint glossy?

Looking at a car that has very nice satin black paint, but it doesn't fit the car. Plus I think satin black belongs on hot rods and nothing else.

If you really want gloss black, you should just repaint it. Clear cost as much as paint. Also the bodywork+prepwork has to be pretty good or that shiny black paint will show you every mistake..Good luck

Thanks guys. So clear doesn't stick to clear very well?

Clear can be shot over existing clear ,no problemo. What you have to make sure of is what kind of clear was shot in the first place. Some clears will not adhere very well at all, and in fact may shrink the clear you have of there now. Also, does the car have clear on it now ? Are you sure of that? It may just be a satin paint. If that is the case, do not shoot clear over it,as it will be a mess . Find out as much as you can about the finish of the car now, then ask your paint supplier what you should use. Just scuff the clear real good and hit it with cleaner ,then tack cloth, and shoot away.
