Well I broke down and picked up a mig welder. Tried using my tig and it just wasn't working. Doesn't like the old steel at all and I was putting way to much heat into the metal and it really started pulling bad. Going to have to rechop to get it straight again.

Mig is a little more forgiving on old dirty metal but you can't really do a true hammer weld as the welds are real hard.
I used the "easy grind" wire when I did mine and it made a big difference when it came time to grind.
Good luck on the rechop.

Cab is 90% welded.
GT40 heads have been drilled and are ready for a valve job so I can button up the motor.
Exploder rear has been shortened and put back together with new brakes and sealed up.
Got a new C4 tranny with 50000km on it. looks pretty good.
Also got in touch with the guy who sold me the first c4 and he apologized, and has a valve body for it ready to go. I may use this one to rebuild while the other goes in for now as I noticed this one has a ton of free play in the gear train.
Speedway wiring harness should be here tomorrow with my DIY lakers.
Pulled the old clutch/brake pedal assembly apart as i wont need the clutch. Shaft is pretty worn although the brass bushing is in good shape...[S
Started cutting steel for the front suspension build.

Also had a friend give me a couple pro-thane SBF motor mounts he had collecting dust.

Things are coming together!

Long time no update.

Cab is chopped.
Frame is 75% need to get it all together then I will pull everything and do the final welding .
Motor mounts are in. Still need to weld. But all in place. Driveline is in the frame!! for now that is.
Rear 4 link is 50% done. Trying to figure out how I want the bags to fit.
Front 4 link is 50%. Need to attach bottom bar, and then start the cantilever bag setup.

Goal is still to have her running by end of summer.

Ya looks real beefy. Its actually fairly light wall square tubing I had sitting around.

Working on the front suspension now. Almost had the front Watts done, then to build the cantilevered air bag setup.

Also got my new timing cover in for my electric water pump. Ya not real rat roddy but makes things easier for the parts I have, and I had an electric.

Time for an update.
Front suspension is getting closer, almost a roller. Ran into a few issues with heim joints had to switch a couple joints to oilite bushings(on order)
