Spent a few hours this morning rolling the frame over and welding most everything on the bottom side, cut out the frame inside the frame notches and filled the plates in. Flipped it up on it's side so that I can carry on in the morning.

heyooo nice work!

I thought about a chainfall to allow me to tilt frames, sometime welding overhead is perilous!

I second boxing the . If I ever redo my truck I will box the frame. They are kind of sloppy

Thanks everyone, I'm leaning toward boxing the frame as well. As for the welds, thank you all very much, but as noted I tend to cheat a bit and roll the frame over so that most every weld I make is a flat one. Not only does it make my life easier, there's nothing worse than getting a hot grape in the ear when doing some crazy overhead weld! The sound of the sizzle inside your ear just isn't nice. My front coil overs showed up so I could finally establish the upper bracket height and install the upper control arm towers. I did a little more welding on the rear step notches, and lots more welding now.

Nothing wrong with working smart! And I hear you about the sizzling ears...no fun at all. [cl[cl

Found 20 min for some welding this morning, so I finished the 4 link brackets on the rear end. With this nice weather (sorry Torchie) I have a million things to do outside!

Thanks guys.....the welding gods were smiling on me today. As the boys at work used to say, "even a knuckledragger gets lucky once in a while". I was jumping around finishing up some of the welds I'd started.

I hope to find time to make a trip to pick up some 6" flatbar to finish boxing the frame this week, and still need to pick up my rack as I think I need to notch the frame right in front of the crossmember.

Boxing

Finally found a few minutes to head in to the city the other day and pick up some plate for the frame boxing. I drilled a couple of large holes to allow me access to the running board mount bolts, and I figured I can spray some rust proofing in there once I get all the welding done and the frame painted. I even made myself chuckle this afternoon when it occurred to me....you know you are getting old when your template cardboard is a bran cereal box...I used to use beer boxes, now I'm reduced to this!
